FAQs
What the heck is shilajit?
Mongolians call it āThe Destroyer of Weaknessā and Hindis have used it in Ayurvedic medicines for thousands of years.Ā Shilajit is an all-natural mineral-rich substance with an insanely high fulvic acid component.Ā Ā TheĀ presence of fulvic acid increases bioavailability allowing your body to actually absorb all 85+ minerals presentĀ versus, well, you knowā¦not absorbing it.Ā Ā Pro tip: choose products tested for purity.
How much shilajit should I be allowing into my temple per day?
We hate to get all FDA wording on you but theĀ realĀ answer isĀ thatĀ there is no daily recommended amount. This bar provides 1000mg per serving.Ā Whilst it is true that everything should be taken in moderation, it is likely that you need more minerals in your diet.Ā
Is 1000mg a lot?
1000mg is a clearly measured amount chosen for convenience and consistency. Individual needs vary.Ā We intentionally jammed 1000mg in our bar, which is 4-5x what other shilajit products contain.Ā Why do other brands contain less?Ā Well, if you ask us (you're asking us, right?) --- its because shilajit isn't cheap & they are likely buying itĀ from a lot of middlemen at a higher cost than Shilala does. Shilala gets its Shilajit directly from the source. One of our founders is a Mongolian who has been āup the mountainā many times.Ā
Is Shilajit safe?
Is the pope Catholic? Seriously --- unregulated supplements are rife with scammers --- it is imperative that you only use third-party lab-tested products with a published COA.Ā Our COA's are linked here.Ā
If pregnant, nursing, on medication, or with a condition - always consult with a professional.
How do I verify shilajit purity and authenticity?
I guess you didn't read Question #4.Ā Check the brandās COA from an accredited lab (identity, heavy metals, microbes); there are a lot of scammers out there.Ā Our COA's are linked here.
Resin, powder, gummies, honey sticks, tablets, capsules, liquids ā which is better?
(Spoiler alert: its resin) Wellll...quality and testing matter more than form.Ā But - whenever you add a step of processing to a product, it loses nutrients.Ā Powder is dehydrated shilajit, so it is losing some nutrients in that process.Ā This is why we take the painstaking step of dissolving the resin in a liquid (which liquid depends on the bar recipe!) in order to make it palatable & usable in the recipe.
Resin, on its own, is sticky, tastes bad and is hard to take the exact quantity you want. Thatās why we put it in a bar with other ingredients Ā Every Shilala bar is a tasty and hassle-free way to deliver exactly 1000mg of pure Shilajit resin to your body, as well as a ton of other natural goodies like dried blueberries, chia seeds, cardamom, organic dates, cashews, etc. :)
When should I eat my shilala bar?
Whenever the h-e-double hockey sticks you want!Ā ManyĀ athletes (professional and casual)Ā haveĀ it in the morning or pre-activity.Ā Consistency matters - enjoy your bar at the time that best fits your routineĀ and try to eat a bar at least 5 days a week.Ā
Can I eat shilajit with coffee or tea?
Sure - if you want your coffee or tea to tasteĀ like it sat in the convenience store coffee maker since the Patriots last won a Super Bowl.Ā Ā You can even dissolve it in water if you REALLY want toĀ take your frustrations out on good old H20.Ā But yes, many have...& then they have sought out a better way to take it - whichĀ just so happens to beĀ in a bar called Shilala.Ā Ā
What are possible side effects?
Being awesome.Ā Setting personal bests.Ā Having the recall of a 25 year old. Outthinking ChatGPT 6 before it even comes out. Being able to chop down trees faster than Paul Bunyan. Oh and also some things about Casanova and Genghis Khan we canāt say here.Ā Oh, but also some report
digestive sensitivity (this is most likely because of the magnesium). Skip a day if adverse effects occur and consult with a physician.
Does shilajit interact with medications?
Does absorbing minerals interfere with medications?Ā I mean, probably not...BUT interactions are possible.Ā Speak with your healthcare provider if you take prescriptions or have a condition.
Is this bar vegan and gluten-free?
Yes & yes.Ā Celiacs & vegans need yummy food too.Ā See the ingredient list and allergen statement.Ā
How should I store my shilala bars?
We recommend storing your shilala in a locked vault so no one steals it.Ā Also, store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep sealed. Follow any specific directions on the packaging.
Where does your shilajit come from?
Kind of a personal question, buuut we've been working on being more open in therapy.Ā Ā 100% of our shilajit comes directly from a very difficult to access locationĀ in the Altai Mountains of Western Mongolia.Ā Our partner and founder, TGĀ (his name can be difficult to pronounce to non-Mongolians)Ā inspects the facilities and oversees the harvesting and processing. We verify each lot through third-party labs. See our COAs.
What should I look for when buying shilajit?
A label that says "shilala" obviously!Ā Also - transparent sourcing, third-party testing, published COAs, clear serving amounts, no
exaggerated medical claims & a playful, irreverent take on life and love.Ā (Oh and donāt be fooled by companies claiming shilajit from āxā altitude or region is better than shilajit from āyā altitude or region ā if they truly understood how shilajit is created, they wouldn't make such bogus, click-bait claims.)
